Nic Shaw
Title: Da Boss
Nic has had a passion about introducing people to nature for ever. He has worked as a game ranger in some of South Africa's top reserves and has a background in geography. Nic enjoys talking so it is advisable not to engage him in a discussion on the state of the global environment, international politics, vegetarianism, or sugar consumption. Apart from running, mountain biking, guitar, world music, bonsai, walking up and down mountains, African history, horses, being a dad, birdwatching and cooking he doesn’t have any interests or hobbies to speak of. Nic is a registered specialist nature guide.
Carma Shaw
Title: Da Other Boss
Carma grew up near the mountains and has always had a close attachment to them. She has a qualification in Graphic Design, a background in events management, a history in farming, is widely travelled and a talented artist, and can speak Human but cannot sew. Carma holds everything together while the rest of the staff are running around. This demands an amazing attention to details and quick thinking. Most of the staff and quite a few of the neighbours are scared of her. Carma is a fantastic mother and the grey hairs are under the dye to prove it.
Sandi Barrett
Title: Ms Moneypenny
Sandi manages the administration of Entabeni. That is to say she does the important work no one else wants to do. She is a qualified bookkeeper and makes a great cup of coffee. Being in such a central place means that Sandi always has the dirt on everyone. Do not tell her a secret. Sandi is also Nic’s mother, which she says is not as bad as one might think.
Geoff Ntshangase
Title: TG
No one can remember how Geoff ended up at Entabeni. He’s always been here. Geoff is a man of many talents not the least of which is dealing with naughty children. He has been a builder, thatcher, plumber, mountain guide, environmental education officer, and bodyguard (we don’t believe him about that one either). Geoff is from the community of Hlathikhulu, near Entabeni and has aspirations to the British Crown. We wish him luck. He also claims he is Irish – he does enjoy Guinness. Geoff holds a qualification in Environmental Education and is a registered nature guide.
Adri is uber-organised. She can type, take notes, answer the 'phone, read out messages, chair a meeting, make copies and make coffee...all at the same time. Some people find this scary. We find it rather convenient as it means we can sit back and relax while she runs the office...and everyone's lives. Not only is she very busy at work but she also has a hectic social life. Not even the Energiser bunny has this much energy.
